I can see why you think the word "to" is being repeated, but this is the rule in Spanish. Ir + a + verb is simply the way the structure works.

As Eric replied, the structure is always ir + a + verb. It can also be ir+ a + noun. Por ejemplo: Yo voy a mi casa. Vamos a la tienda. This probably makes more sense to you if you are translating word for word. But Spanish (or any language) doesn't work that way. As you progress thru your Fluenz lessons, focus on a group of words communicating a particular idea, thought, feeling etc.

Cheryl, thanks for expanding on Eric's post. I guess I was looking at this with my English-speaking brain and trying to translate it word-for-word rather than looking at the collective meaning as you mentioned. I'll keep this in mind for the future.
