I think it would be better to just leave the rule alone. I know that in English there are SO many rules to words and usually there are just as many words that follow the rule as there are that break it. My opinion is to learn what is given to you the proper way and after you have had a lot of experience with French you can start to question it. As in English when we learned our first language we did not know all these exceptions until we started grammar in school. But by then questioning such things did not effect our speaking capabilities because you had already learned the language and excepted the rules given. If you found this post helpful please vote :)
