Yes, you're right, here's a little trick wcoy79:
In the present tense, verbs in ER and verbs in IR take the same endings except for the 1st person plural (nosotros) where they respectively end in "emos" and "imos", e.g.: comer = nosotros comemos, subir = nosotros subimos.
In the past tense, verbs in AR and verbs in IR don't change in the first person plural, e.g.: hablar = nosotros hablamos can mean We speak or We spoke, subir = nosotros subimos can mean We go up or We went up. Yet verbs in ER change, the E of the present turns into I in the past, so for comer: nosotros comemos = we eat VS nosotros comimos = we ate.
