Rob, I'll give you my insight- hope it helps. Comprehension is something that like all other aspects needs focused practice and training. What you want is your brain to the connection between what you are hearing, and the image or thought that it represents, automatically. For me what works the best is "guided listening". Grab a movie, or a series. Try something simple first, maybe a kids show or movie. And then break it down scene by scene. So take one scene, watch it with subtitles until you know what each phrase is, then watch that same scene over and over until you are fully in command of it. Then move on to the next. I know it is a lot of work, but it really is what has given me the best results. Being you are in level 3, picking something that uses simple language is best because well, you don't have all the tools yet to fully follow an entire movie. So being OK with not understanding everything is something that takes some getting used to. But you train yourself to fill the voids until you do have the tools. I hope this helps!!
