I agree that not everything is going to translate exactly... That is the nature of language. I am having trouble thinking of a specific example but as I've been studying, there have been instances where "que" was used, and other instances where "a" was used. Sometimes, it's apparent that one or the other sounds better or works better when saying a particular sentence or phrase. Other times, though, it is not so obvious and it is hard to tell when either are necessary. This is what has been so difficult and frustrating because I want to get it right. Understanding when saying "to" is necessary is my challenge, because the actual verb includes "to" (for example, "ver" means "TO see"). If I wanted to say "I have to see", I believe I would say, "tengo ver". I now I understand that after any former of the verb "ir" (voy, va, etc), must come either "a" or "que" (again, sometimes it's difficult to know which). But "a" or "que" also have to come before or after other verbs, I'm trying to learn which ones.
