Technically you could say J'habite, but since it hasn't been taught at that point in the program it doesn't allow it as a response - the same goes for various other synonyms and the inverted question such as "Avez-vous", etc.

they are interchangeable but did you really write je habite? J'habite...

The lesson where they cover Habiter vs Vivre is French 4, session 14. "Going to the Airport". I'm sure watching it again, will help your memory. It is very short and simple.
