Answer Question
Spanish Upgraded Level 2 Session 5: "que viene" vs. "próximo"
I'm curious about the use of the phrase "que viene" being introduced as "next" in this lesson. The verb "venir" is not new to me, and I don't have any trouble understanding how this means "next," but in the long-ago Spanish lessons of my youth, I learned "próximo" and not this phrase.
In some quick Google searching, it seems that both "que viene" and "próximo" are used commonly. Is there a difference in the use by country or region? I'd appreciate any input on understanding the distinction between the two, and why Fluenz uses "que viene" here. Thank you!
