Level 5 session 6 match the phrases - use of the word "monde"
So we've seen several times that "tout le monde" (i.e. the whole world) is how you say "everybody" in French. That I get. But this sentence in Level 5 session 6 threw me because this use of "monde" has not been introduced in the lectures! The sentence is:
Il y avait beaucoup de monde à la fête d’hier
Which they translate as:
There were a lot of people at yesterday's party.
Is the use of "monde" here correct, or is that a mistake? I would have used "personnes" or "gens" in that case.
