Answer Question
Lesson 22 asking where you’re from
I'm just looking back on the lesson to ask where somebody is from and I have a question.
Asking: Where are you from
First rule: preposition goes before question word --> D'où
Second rule: Write the rest as a statement --> vous êtes
Final sentence: D'où vous êtes
If you have a name to ask by, you follow the English order after putting the preposition before the question word:
--> Where is Sonia from = D'où est Sonia
I don't understand why using the word your falls under this rule of following the English order? Where is your family from = D'où est ta famille?
How is it so different from where is he from or where are you from?
