Answer Question
Placement of "also" in a sentence and word order
Level 5: Session 10 (Write the phrase you read): The English phrase is: "He doesn't eat meat, so we have to cook vegetarian." I thought the correct translation would be: "Er isst kein Fleisch, also müssen wir vegetarisch kochen. However, the correct answer was: "Er isst kein Fleisch, wir müssen also vegetarisch kochen. I don't understand the placement of "also" after the modal verb and I am confused as to why the subject proceeds the modal verb in this example. I also saw the same with participles and "also" (Example: Du has also nichts gegessen.) However, this example was a correct answer in the exercises as well: "Also brauche ich dieses Dokument." In this example, the verb and subject are inverted. Is there an word order difference when using modals and participles?
