Answer Question
French 3 Session 7: Oranges: Color and Gender! (LOL)
In the Match the Phrases block of exercises, there are these, and I am hoping the translations are mismatched:
1) I like this orange, it's a delicious fruit. The French translation is J'aime cette orange, c'est un fruit delicieux.
2) I like this orange, it's a very beautiful colour. French: J'aime cet orange, c'est une tres belle couleur.
Now, as fruit is masculine, and color is feminine, shouldn't they first halves of each sentence be swapped:
1) Orange the fruit: J'aime cet orange, c'est un fruit delicieux.
2) Orange the color: J'aime cette orange, c'est une belle couleur.
And lastly, I'm hoping you will clarify J'aime vs. J'aime beaucoup vs. j'adore! I am close to yelling at my monitor when I correctly translate one sentence of "I like" as "j'aime beaucoup", but then in the next instance it's simply "j'aime". I think there was even one instance where "I like very much" was "j'adore", LOL.
It's honestly quite frustrating.
