Answer Question
German Level 3 Lesson 15 Ordinal Numbers: should end in -ste?
I just finished Level 3 Lesson 15, learning ordinal numbers (erste, zweite, dritte, etc). The general rules make sense to me: just add -te if 20 or under (exceptions for 1, 3, & 7), and add -ste if over 20. The normal number structure makes sense to me too, example 125 = "einhundertfunfundzwanzig."
But in some of the workouts there was this example: "Ihre hundertfunfte Tasche." (Her one hundred and fifth bag.)
Shouldn't "hundertfunfte" be "einhundertundfunfste"? Or is this a casual way to structure numbers? Does the -ste only apply from 21-100, and then after 100, only the 5 in 105 counts towards the -te vs -ste rule?
Any explanation would be great!
Thanks
