Answer Question
Articles and other issues in Session 19 of Spanish 3
Here are some observations on this session. In the conversation, "Que divertido" is translated as "How fun." Might it have been a more direct translation as "What fun"? Later "Que bien" is used, so I have to assume that one is just a saying to memorize since there is no way to twist that one to a literal translation in English. Also, I assume that JUGAR is being translated as PLAY vs TO PLAY because it is following conjugated verbs (GUSTA or PODEMOS).In the write the phrase you read section, "I like golf but (I) prefer tenis" is translated as "Me gusta el golf pero prefiero el tenis." However, the use of the article in front of the sport isn’t always used in the conversation. What is the rule for this (me gusta el tenis vs me gusta nadar, jugar futbol...).In the match the phrases section, "Yo voy al cine con mi hijo todos los viernes" is translated as "I’m going to the movies with my son every Friday." Wouldn’t a better translation be "I go to the movies with my son every Friday"?
