Answer Question
What's the difference between c'est and il est?
When is it appropriate to use one and not the other?
I noticed when learning how to tell time in french "Il est" is used. For example;
Quelle heure est-il?
NOT
quelle heure est-ce que c'est?
Why can only il est be used in this instance, and for what other instances is il est only used to mean "it is" ?
And also, why is it "il est" instead of "elle est" for "quelle heure est-il" because hour is feminine?
