Answer Question
Verbs Like Gustar
Me encanta bailar
- I love to dance (English equivalent).....dancing is pleasing to me.(literal meaning)
A mí me encanta bailar
- I love to dance (English equivalent)....dancing is pleasing to me. (literal meaning)
In the 2nd sentence I understand that the 'a' is used to emphasize who is pleased.
My question, why do I need 'mï'? Mí is a prepositional pronoun. Is it because the 'a' is being used as a preposition in this case? Grammatically, I can't quite figure out what the rule is here.
Another example:
A los touristas les gustó mucho Machu Picchu.
- The tourists liked Machu Picchu very much (Eng. lit).....Machu Picchu was liked very much by the tourists. (lit. meaning)
If I replaced los touristas with ellos would this be written: A ellos les gustó mucho Machu Picchu.
