Answer Question
Placement of subject pronouns in questions
Hola amigos,
When asking a question in Spanish, if one opts to include the subject pronoun it seems like it can go either before or after the verb. For example:
¿Ustedes quieren tomar una cervaza?
- or -
¿Quieren ustedes tomar una cervaza?
My questions - First, am I correct that either form is okay? If so, is there a different connotation or emphasis between the two forms? Given that the speaker is opting to include the pronoun for emphasis or clarity, would a native speaker hear these two forms differently?
¡Muchas gracias!
Jeff
