Answer Question
use of article before francais
I am in Level one at Lesson 16. I am confused about when it's correct to use the article "le" before the language "francais." In one of the flashcards (in the "Random" "Super Mix" section) is the phrase "she doesn't speak French," which is translated as "elle ne parle pas francais." Several flashcards later there appears the phrase "I don't understand French," which is translated "je ne comprends pas le francais." Francais follows a negation in both cases, but in only one is the article "le" used. What have I missed? Also, is it possible to use accent marks in these posts? If so, could someone explain what you need to do to the keyboard? My usual procedure for adding accents, etc. doesn't seem to work. Thanks much for any help you can provide.
