Answer Question
Trouble with when to use "en" ending for masculine words
Hello, I am several lessons into the German course and it is awesome! I have been making great progress but I am having a hard time with when to use the "en" ending with masculine words. When the subject of the sentance is a person I understand how to use the "en" ending such as in the sentance (Ich mochte einen Kaffee) but when a person is not the subject it confuses me. A good example of what I mean can bee seen in these two sentances. (Entschuldigung! Ist dieser Platz sehr weit entfernt?) and (Gibt es da einen Zug nach Paris?). Why does "dieser Platz" have the normal "er" masculine ending but "einen Zug" have the "en" ending?
