Answer Question
When do I use the article?
I am finishing up with Italian 2, but as I do more of the flashcards, I'm getting confused. During the earlier lessons, the program said that most Italian speakers don't use the article all the time (ie: ho, hai, ha, etc., instead of io ho, tu hai, lei ha.) However, particularly after the introduction on "tu," the program and flashcards intermittently require the article to be used. For example there is a flashcard for "sei" that does not accept "tu sei" as the answer. But there is another card for "tu non sei" and it won't accept "non sei" as the correct answer. Is there a reason the program uses the article in come phrases but not others? Thanks!
