Answer Question
De la toux vs. de toux
I'm on session 29 of Level 2 French and I was wondering:
Why is it that when you say "I have a cough" it's : J'ai de la toux [I have (of) the cough]
but when you say the negative "I don't have a cough" it's: Je n'ai pas de toux [I don't have (of) cough]
* why does the "la/the" disappear in the negative form?
Thank you!
