Answer Question
Pronunciation of "ll" in Spanish
I'm confused on how to pronounce the double-L (ll) in Spanish. Sonia seems to pronounce it differently depending on the word. I always thought there was no guess-work involved in pronouncing words correctly in Spanish but now I'm confused.
On Spanish 1 Lesson 29 at 5:48 into the conversation explanation video, Sonia clearly pronounces llegar as "jay-gar".
But on Spanish 2 Lesson 3 at 8:16 into the conversation explanation video, she clearly pronounces botella as "bo-tay-uh".
Can someone clear this up for me? I want to learn the correct pronunciation the first time -- if I learn it wrong, it will be hard for me to change.
