Answer Question
Question 9) can vs. may
In English, though it seems desperately unfashionable to care, there are specific and distinct meanings for can, may, and might. Is "keyi" a direct translation of "can", are there separate words to convey permission and possibility, or does keyi get pressed into service for those too? Indeed, does the average native Mandarin speaker use these words (assuming there's more than one) precisely, or is their usage as sloppy and imprecise as the norm here?
