Answer Question
word order question
In level 3, lesson 18, in "Write the Phrase You Read" There is the sentence "We drove this route in 5 hours last year". The answer which is given is "Wir sind diese Strecke letztes Jahr in funf Stunden gefahren". It had been my impression that adverbs follow the conjugated verb. So I wondered, why not put the adverbial phrase "letztes Jahr in funf Stunden" immediately after "sind"? Is this just style or is there a reason why one should use this word order in standard syntax without any specific context for the sentenced. Also, could one switch the order of "letztes Jahr" and "in funf Stunden"? Fluenz grammer team pls comment. thanks, Drew Sullivan
