Answer Question
Auxiliary Verbs Essere vs. Avere
Hey all,
Im working on Italian Level 4 and I'm having a really hard time figuring out when to use avere vs. essere for the auxiliary verb in the past tense. I understand the rules about reflexive verbs always use essere, but the rule about verbs that signify movement from one place to another really confuses me. It doesn't seem that this is very consistent or maybe there are a lot of exceptions. For example, viaggiare uses avere even though this is a prime example of moving from one place to another. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there another way to help me nail this down? Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam Piccirillo
