Answer Question
Need help on a matter that has become a source of irritation...Hah!
I am 1/2 way through French level 3 and I keep making the same error during the "write in French the phrase you read exercise". But the reason I keep making the same mistake is that I cannot find anywhere in the previous lessons where it taught me to add, or recognize to add "pour" to a sentence when it doesn't seem to require it. Example: "You (i) had a little time to go see your parents?" I wrote: "Tu as eu un peu de temps aller voir tes parents?" And it was all correct EXCEPT FOR...they added "POUR" before aller, so it read; ....de temps POUR aller voir tes parents. I understand that "pour" can be translated in context as "for", or "to" or "in order to", but what is the grammatical key or catalyst that let's you know it is required in this circumstance? And this has come up in other phrases as well and I always seem to get it wrong because I can't remember or find anything in the previous learning that explains why or when it would be required to be included in such a sentence. Any answers or opinions on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Merci!
