Answer Question
Use of ir in Spanish lesson 14 disc 1
Hello, I am starting to get confused on the use of 'ir a' in lesson 14. In previous lessons this meant ir-to go, a- to. An example phrase which is confusing to me is Muy bien, vamos a ir a comer juntas. The translation shows as Very well (we(f)) are going to go eat together.
But to me it appears we are doubling up on the 'to'. When I attempt to translate, it would appear to me it would be vamos- we're going to; a ir a comer- (seems to be to be 'to go to to eat'). This is confusing because I thought 'comer' translated as 'to eat'. Can someone assist on this please. Thanks
