Answer Question
Replacement Pronouns and Prepositions
I have learned in French that it is a common practice once a noun has been mentioned in a conversation, that in order to avoid repetition, a pronoun or preposition is used to replace it. For example:
La tarte est appétissante, je vais la manger, 'la' is being used to replace 'La tarte.'
I seem to understand that in some situations we use the preposition, le, la, les, and then other times we use the pronouns il, elle, ils etc. However I am having a hard time understanding when to use the correct form. I have asked this question to several of my French speaking pen pals but I don't think they are understanding my question because I haven't received a clear answer.
Can anyone help me, or point me to somewhere that gives a good explanation on this concept?
Thanks!
