Answer Question
German Level 4, Session 13: Genitive Form of Masculine Nouns
I just finished German Level 4, Session 13 and had a question about the use of the genitive form of "Freund".
At the match the phrase section (86% completion), it says "Er vermietet die Wohnung seines Freundes". Later, there is a phrase which says "Wir gehen zur Party des Freunds meiner Freundin". I don't understand why in the former phrase it is "seines Freundes" and in the latter it is "des Freunds". Why is there no final "e" between the "d" and the "s" in "Freunds" (or alternatively, why is there an extra "e" in "des Freundes")?
Does this have anything to do with one using an "ein word" and one using a "der" word? Or is it just a typo? I think this difference was also in the "repeat the phrase" section as well so it leads me to believe that it's not a mistake.
Thanks for any help.
