Answer Question
Trouble with the placement of nicht.
Im having trouble with the placement of nicht in sentences. It seems to come and go as it pleases. Putting itself wherever it wants in sentences. Sometimes it appears after a verb, sometimes before. Ive tried to find a correlation between its placement and its intended use, and have tried finding some pattern but have not been able to do so. Is there a set rule for the placement of 'nicht' IE as in whether it comes before or after a verb, after a sentence, etc, or is it something that must be engrained in the mind and memorized only with time as with the gender of nouns? Any help is greatly appreciated.
