Re. reflexive verbs: Near the end of the tutorial, Sophie says this: “When modal verbs precede a reflexive infinitive with the pronoun attached, they take “Avere” as the auxiliary, BUT: if the reflexive IS CONJUGATED, and the pronoun PRECEDES THE MODAL VERB, they take the auxiliary “essere.”
She then gives this example:
“Mi sono dovuta alzare presto questa mattina.”
This seems to violate the rule she just gave because the reflexive verb “Alzare” IS NOT conjugated but it still takes essere as its auxiliary? Can someone please clarify?
