Answer Question
Acordarse versus Recordar
I'm in Spanish 4, Lesson 3 and I just learned the reflexive verb acordarse and learned that to say I don't remember is "yo no me acuerdo". I always used to say "no recuerdo" when I wanted to say I don't remember. This comes from the verb recordar, which is also to remember. I always knew the phrase "Estoy de acuerdo contigo" I am in agreement with you but not acuerdo in the verb sense. This got me thinking, it sounds like they both mean the same thing but doesn't "yo no me acuerdo" literally mean "I don't agree with myself" where recordar is more like "I don't recall". Is the difference between the two is that acordarse is literally I remember but I'm not sure exactly kind of like "no estoy seguro" versus recordar really means I don't remember at all as in "No tengo una idea"? Or are they exactly the same?
