Answer Question
Es vs. Está.... Is there a discrepancy?
In the conversation for Spanish LA 2-8, Isabelle says: Tengo que ir al estadio. ¿Sabe dónde es? Since she is talking about the LOCATION of the stadium, I conclude that she should have used está here instead of es. Then maybe, I think that, because the stadium's location is pretty much permanently established, the use of es is correct. Satisfied with that logic, I move ahead. However, in the matching exercise a bit later in the lesson, I encounter the phrase "¿Usted sabe dónde está la estación de metro? Do we have a discrepancy here? Or is the location of one of these places any more or less permanent than the other?? I anxiously await the opinions of those more grammatically gifted than myself. Gracias.
