Answer Question
A bittersweet moment (completion of French 5)
A few days ago I completed the last session of Fluenz French 5. The description of the session is simply "a beautiful sculpture," and as I look back on the last 2+ years with Fluenz, I realize it's the perfect analogy. I started my journey on New Year's Day 2012, and the only French I knew was "oui" and "rendez-vous." Hardly a sculpture, more like a scattered mess of raw materials :)
But for the next couple months, Sonia convinced me that this old dog could learn new tricks. Then Caroline took off the kid gloves and whipped me into shape through present-day. All the while, and as cheesy as it sounds, I really was shaping and molding something -- a new perspective of the world around me.
Alas, it's time to delve into new resources to take my listening/speaking to the next level (Assimil, Yabla, etc.), but Fluenz will always be my sentimental favorite. Whenever I meet someone who is looking to learn a language, you can bet I'll recommend Fluenz as their primary foundation.
