Answer Question
Adjectives and Adverbs
I am working in Spanish/LA 3-22 where the phrase "Can you say it slower, please?" is presented as "¿Puede decirlo más lento, por favor? So if "lento" is indeed an adjective, why is it used here to modify a verb (decir)? It was my understanding, at least in English grammar, that adverbs are used to modify verbs, so that we would actually say "Can you say it more slowly, please?" Consequently, I was expecting to see something more like "más lentamente" in this context. At this point in Level 3, I don't believe adverbs have been discussed yet. So is it still correct to use words like "lento" and "rápido" to modify verbs? (It seems we have been using rápido in this way for quite a while as well.... rather than say "rapidamente") So what is the distinction here, and which way is grammatically more correct? Gracias.
