Answer Question
el agua
OK.... so we know that water is a masculine noun, despite its ending in -a .... el agua .... right? So, shouldn't its adjectives agree according to GENDER, and not according to the vowel ending of the noun??? In other words, why is it agua fría, and not agua frío???
Another question from the same review Lesson 26 of SP/LA Level 4: In the dialogue, "al lado del río" is translated as "close to the river" when up till now we have always made the distinction between (al lado de = next to) and (cerca de = close to). In English there is a definite difference in being close to the river and being next to the river. Close to could imply walking-distance as opposed to driving-distance; whereas, next to would imply being close enough to see or even hear the river..... ie. very close. So do you feel this is a correct translation in the dialogue???
