Answer Question
Use of "y" for "there"
Hello, just finished lesson 9 on French 3 and am wondering about the proper use of "y" when referring to a location. In one of the translation exercises, the correct translation for "I leave from here to go to the restaurant at eight. We (i) could eat there together." appears as "Je pars d'ici pour aller au restaurant `a huit heures. On pourrait manger l`a-bas ensemble." I tried "On pourrait y manger ensemble" for the second sentence but it wouldn't accept it as correct. Is my usage of "y" for "there" in this example correct, or is "l`a-bas" the only correct usage in this context? Thanks.
