Answer Question
"Tonight" versus "This Evening"
In Lev3Sess9 the English sentence "We are going to the theater after dinner tonight" is meant to be translated by "Wir gehen heute Abend nach dem Abendessen ins Theater". This seems "sort of" incorrect if the example expressions are used. I.e., "heute time-of-day" for "tonight" should be "heute Nacht" shouldn't it? "heute Abend" is more "this evening". Since the precision of German for time, motion and such is apparently of major importance (witness "Morgen, Vormittag, Mittag, Nachmittag, Abend and Nacht", I don't understand how "heute Abend" can mean "tonight". Is "heute Nacht" incorrect or are they both used or.....? Thanks!
