Answer Question
Unable to reinstall fluenz3 from DVD on Windows 10 (OS Build 10586, 104)
Background. When I phoned fluenz to find out what happened to the 10 discs in the proverbial Red Box, customer service told me there's now only one disc. And that everything can be installed from it. And that I fluenz3 is meant for Windows 8 or 10, not XP or 7. I bought a cheap Acer Aspire box (with a very small solid state drive) with 8.1 preinstalled, and immediately applied the free Windows 10 upgrade. I installed Fluenz French from the fluenz3 french DVD from the Red Box from an external optical drive. Not without difficulty -- there were glitches. But I was able to install the whole program and study it.
Current problem: When the new upgrade to Windows 10 came last fall, I needed to uninstall most of the preinstalled apps, as well as my fluenz program, to make space for the download and installation. Installation of the new Windows 10 build completed, I reinstalled the programs I wanted -- or in the case of fluenz3, I tried to.
Attempting to install from the DVD I repeatedly get:
< FluenzInstaller.exe - Application Error
< The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000076).
< Click OK to close the application.
That's where it stops. I also tried the installation from Safe Mode. Same result. But I want to have Fluenz on my computer, and not have to use it online.
I have not had trouble installing the Stillman & Gordon Ultimate French Review and Practice program from CD and the digital publishing/speexx French course, also from CD, using the same external optical drive.
Is there a fix?
