Answer Question
Infinitive vs conjugated verbs
First question: I have asked a similar question but I need clarity. I'm just on level 1, lesson 14, but I'm noticing a bit of a pattern. Some verbs are being used in their conjugated forms, ex: hablar, breaks down to: yo hablo, él habla, nosotros hablamos, ellos hablan, and of course ser and estar (there are others but I don't think I need to list them all to make make my point). And then, there are others, ex: tomar, comer comprar, that are being used in their infinitive forms. Is this because these verbs, among others, are always used in their infinitive forms, or is it because Fluenz is trying not to load me down with too much info. too early?
Second question: In lesson 13, I learned that ir means 'to go'. Then in lesson 14 there is a question that begins: Vamos a ir a... Directly translated, that would be, let's go to to go to... a bit of redundancy there. So, am I correct in assuming that in this structure, the meaning of ir changes from 'to go' to simply 'go'? I know there will be many things that do not directly translate, I would just like someone to confirm that I am thinking about this correctly. Thanks.
