Answer Question
Quisiera and Podría
When quisiera (would you like) and podría (could you, or would you be able to) were presented, I just assumed that they were both the same tense of their respective verbs, querer and poder. The actual grammatical tenses are never specifically mentioned in the course up to this point, and I wonder why not? Anyway, a little research in my spanish grammar book, and I come to learn that podría is the Conditional form of the verb. I sort of expected to find that quisiera would also be the Conditional form of querer, but it is not.... it happens to be the Imperfect Subjunctive, the Conditional being querría. Can someone explain why two different tenses are used with these two verbs as they were introduced in SP/LA 3-1?
