Answer Question
pronunciation of "ying"
In lesson 16: Languages (in Level 1/2) I noticed a difference in how yīngyǔ is pronounced. When Lisa pronounces it she pronounces "ying" more like the English word "young" . The native Chinese speaker playing the taxi driver pronounces it more like "ying" ie similar to "ring". Is this because of difference accents? Is Lisa's pronunciation of the "ying" sound from a different region than the man playing the taxi driver? If so, which areas do they represent and which form would the pronunciation in "standard" Mandarin?
