Answer Question
ete ou etait?
I've dived in again to Fluenz Level 2 and also using another program as well to re-ignite French!
My question is on the past tenses.
On Fluenz Level 2, we are taught that it is avoir + ete + past participle
Example: She ate (some) bread. -> Elle a mange du pain.
Example: I was at the office. -> J'ai ete au bureau.
(I'm going to skip the past etre with motion verbs like "Je suis alle", "Vous etes arrive")
On my other program, they use etait
Example: My work was interesting. -> Mon travail etait interessant.
Can you still use "Mon travail a ete interessant"?
I'm trying to look online and seeing some resources, it's looking like one is for past tense, and one is for imperfect.
I would like more examples and explanations on this please!!
Ete and etait are pronounced the same!!
Also, are the etait verbs covered in the later French levels? Maybe I just need to reach those levels. Curiosity just got in the way.
Merci beaucoup!
