Hello,
Here the pronoun "en" is not necessary since the object is clearly mentioned: "deux ou trois bouteilles". As explained in the tutorial, EN is used to replace an object:
For example, if the word "bouteille" had already been mentioned before and you wanted to avoid repeating it, then you would need to add "en", as in: Combien de bouteilles est-ce que vous avez?
J'EN ai deux ou trois.
Or as shown in your second example:
J'ai six bières à la maison (here the object "bière" is mentioned, so you cannot use "en", it would be redundant).
Combien tu en as? (here you need to add "en" to avoid repeating "bières", or you would have to say: combien tu as de bières?)..

Thank you for the explanation. It can be confusing at times the way the tutorials are delivered and just getting a grip on understanding some of the finer details. Having said that the tutorials are brilliant, my mind taking it all is as I move along can be problematic at times. Thanks again, appreciated.
