You're right about the time-manner-place order, yet the confusion here comes from the fact that the group of words "diese Strecke" is a direct object and not a "place complement", hence the different order accepted by the program. Place indications are usually introduced by place prepositions (like Aus, In, Zu, An, Nach...), while a direct object is not introduced by any prepositions since it usually answers the question "What?" after the verb/action (here: We drove what?
