Hi Lisa,
As we explain in the tutorials, the structure with the verb "gustar" is very different from other verbs in Spanish, and very different from the English structure. Unlike in English, you don't say "I like" in Spanish but rather something like: "It pleases me". And secondly, you can never use a verb in -NDO after verbs like Gustar, you have to use the infinitive of the verb, so:
He like cooking a lot is "Le gusta mucho cocinar" (never cocinando, unlike in English).
