While Fluenz provides the best language-learning environment I've ever used (and I've tried Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, Babbel, and others), it's been an adventure using it on my Mac. I don't get freezes like you do, but I get audio dropouts on entire exercises. When I've brought this to the attention of Fluenz customer support, I've been met with finger-pointing at Apple. But it should be noted that every other language app and web site always worked flawlessly on my Mac. Problem is, they couldn't begin to hold a candle to Fluenz when it came to teaching a new language.
I am not a fan of Chrome or the company that produces it. I'm also not a fan of downloading a web browser solely for the purpose of running one web site. So I continue to use Safari and stoically accept the flaws. Having said that, if you don't have an issue using Chrome, try that. That's Fluenz's recommendation.
