Fluenz Spanish 1 and 2 go really slow on the basics, to make sure they're fully internalized, and the pace gets slightly faster from level 3 on, with more vocabulary and expressions, so I think you're going to understand a lot more from level 3 on, and of course much more still after level 5 which expands a lot on vocabulary.
I know not understanding real-life Spanish can be a bit frustrating as a beginner..patience, and most of all keep listening to as much Spanish as you can, it will all come in its time, you'll see!

Thanks. Here's what I've been doing lately. I am a part-time Uber driver and I often do this with passengers I think speak Spanish. (I live in San Diego, so that's a lot of the time.)
Habla Español?
Aprendo Español y necesito practicar. Puede hablar conmigo en español?
Tengo el vocabulario de un niño con cinco años, entonces despacio, por favor.
So many times they let me speak in Spanish, then talk in English to me. I have to coax them into speaking Spanish to this Gringo, explaining that I really need it. The best are the ones that don't speak much English.
I've had some really great conversations mostly in Spanish with total strangers. It's not easy, but it's fun.
I'm also listening to Spanish Obsessed. I love that podcast.
