I took your advice and watched a movie ( or series?) on Netflix called 'The Players'. Ha! Some appalling behavior depicted but I had a lot of fun listening for phrases I recognized and following along. It's interesting how some of the actors are very easy to understand and others I really struggled with. Post your viewing recommendations here! I'm going to try and find some classic, old school Italian movies because the slower pacing makes it a bit easier to follow along.

I'll add my recommendation to the list of fun things to watch: "Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy" on CNN Travel. More info here. It's in repeats now and can be watched On Demand on Comcast and it's also available on Hulu. It's a mixture of English and Italian with subtitles. Stanley Tucci travels to different areas of Italy to share the food and life in those locales. I caught the first episode last night and it was in Napoli. WARNING: You might be hungry after watching this!
I'm still working my way through Italian 1 but it was fun seeing how many words and phrases jumped off the screen and allowed me to follow along.
