Fluenz doesn't introduce Tu, the informal way of speaking to people until nearly the end of level 2. I think this is because when you first visit Italy and you go to the local trattoria/ bar or restaurant you're going to be using the formal version, Lei as you don't know the locals very well. Also it maybe to stop us from learning all of the conjugations of the same verb at the start of the course- it might make some people feel overwhelmed. Don't worry- you'll learn the conjugations for Tu later on.
