There are certain nouns that don't require the article "the" before them. As you've noticed, "teatro" is one of them and "casa" is another. You just have to memorize them as they are introduced in the lesson.
A = to
Al = to the, followed by a masculine noun
Allo = to the, followed by a masculine noun that begins with an S followed by a consonant (example "stadio")
All' = to the, followed by a feminine noun beginning with a vowel sound (example "edicola")
Alla = to the, followed by a feminine noun beginning with a consonant (example "fermata")
I think Fluenz no longer sends out CDs, since all the material that used to be disc-based is now online.
